A Giant Leap

Sometimes God asks us to take a giant leap. Now it may not seem like a giant leap by anyone else’s standards, but it is by your standards. That is how this blog got started. I really felt God wanted me to start this blog, but it never seemed to come together. For almost two years I read books on blogging, took notes, listened to podcasts, but never really knew what I could blog about. I don’t really have any special hobbies or talents.
I wasn’t super passionate about anything in particular besides my life with my husband and kids and our church. Nothing really jumped out at me. I kept wrestling with God. “If you just give me something special, I will blog for you.” I spent hours and days and weeks agonizing over what to blog.  I had to at least have a title and a direction.

Finally I knew I had to do something. He just kept burdening my heart, and our finances kept getting tighter and tighter. I knew I had to take the plunge. One day I was listening to a sermon and the words “stepping faithfully” jumped out at me. I told God I would use that phrase, and I would start my blog. There was only one problem- we had no money. I waited another week; we still had no extra money. I kept begging God for extra money to start my blog. Not only did we not receive any extra money, but the week I started my blog I had to order home school curriculum, buy groceries for our extended family for a week at the beach, and pay for a new car battery for our van. Circumstances were certainly against me. It was the absolute worst time to “blow” money to start a blog, yet deep in my heart I knew God wanted me to do it and He wanted me to do it now. So I used the very little money we had in our bank account to started this blog.

I stepped out completely in faith, knowing it was up to God to catch me in my faithful free fall. Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” It is in His hands now.
